History of the Lottery – Game of chance

The first lottery was held in the 1500s by the Continental Congress. The aim was to raise funds for the American Revolution. This was a failure, and the lotteries were discontinued after 30 years. In the early nineteenth century, smaller public lotteries were regarded as a voluntary tax and helped build several American colleges.
